About
I first got into Web & Graphic design in my senior year of high school as a basic necessity of my first band needing flyer’s and a website and not having money to pay someone else to do it. I learned html by viewing the source of websites i liked and seeing how they worked. After a couple years of trial and error of web design and P by myself i decided if i wanted to get serious about it i would need to go to school. Unfortunately i didn’t know how wrong i was. Maybe I’m not giving the college i attended enough credit because i don’t feel i got my moneys worth as far as knowledge, but it did force me to constantly be designing and if i wanted to learn something most of the time i had enough resources to find out how to do it.
In 2004 i graduated with an AS in Multi-Media from Brooks College in Long Beach, at graduation i received a few awards for Best Portfolio in my graduating class as well as Instructor’s Choice for my major. 6 months later i decided i wasn’t satisfied with my education and set out to get my BA from the Art Institute in Santa Monica, unfortunately i never finished that program after running into some problems with student loans.
During my time in school i was lucky enough to meet enough clients through my band who was getting some notable exposure that i was constantly busy w/ freelance work. In the spring of 2005 i took a head design position at a newly started Screen Printing company. They however made some rookie busy decisions and my position didn’t last too long. During my short time in screen printing industry i gained a tremendous love for screen printing & i feel really started to find myself as a designer.
After i was let go my best friend/on again off again design partner Jason Mageau decided to try to run a small screen printing/button making business out of his parents garage for local bands & artists. This however did not last long as he moved to Vegas shortly after. A month or so later i took my current position of Senior Designer & Processing Manager for a growing online surf store Spydersurf.com which i am extremely happy to be apart of.
I currently reside in beautiful Lomita, California & can usually be found in front of a computer with my dog Rosie laying by my side. If I’m not working i can either be found in the snow or on the ice. I grew up playing hockey and it is one of my major passions in life.
I am constantly trying to better myself as a designer & with my ever growing list of freelance clients/the constant need for new art at my 9-5 it isn’t too hard to do nowadays.
Thank you for your time.
